Summary on Grant Application Form |
New molecules with high spin ground states will be synthesised using pyridone bridging ligands. Systems containing polynuclear homometallic d-block and mixed d-block / f-block metals will be isolated and characterised. Studies will include use of a SQUID susceptometer and EPR spectroscopy down to 4K. Modelling studies in collaboration with an Italian group will seek magneto-structural correlations in these systems, hence leading to design of molecules with specific properties.
