Summary on Grant Application Form |
The objectives of the project are to conduct research into optical fibre interferometers for the measurement of vibration and acoustic emission, suitable for development by the other partners for application in industrial environments. The interferometers will be suitable for generic condition monitoring applications. However, they will be developed for the specific applications of he monitoring of electrical machinery and switchgear and for monitoring wear in machine tools. An additional and important feature of the interferometers is that they will facilitate the multiplexing of sensors, such that fault-indicative events may be spatially localised.
