|
The work programme to be carried out in the University of Cambridge under this LINK proposal is designed to complement the activities in the Industrial Partners on device fabrication and encapsulation, and materials synthesis and scale-up. The principal objective is to provide characterisation of materials and devices which are being studied by the Industrial Partners. Techniques to be used include (a) LED complex impedance measurements as a function of frequency and bias conditions, together with measurements of light output, (b) materials characterisation by means of NMR, differential scanning caliometry, infra-red spectroscopy, (c) structural studies of polymers, particularly using electron diffraction, microscopy, and spatially-resolved EDAX, (d) photophysical measurements, including measurements of photoconductivity, photo-induced optical absorption, spectrally resolved photo-luminescence and electroluminescence using the integrating sphere technique, (e) feed-through of new materials from chemical synthesis programmes, (f) polymer stability. Fundamental studies will be undertaken to complement the work on devices coordinated in CDT.
