Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research is intended to develop ways of assessing the effect of product introduction on the operational effectiveness of manufacturing systems. Introducing additional products invariably increases the complexity of the operation, which extends lead times and leads to less predictable performance,The research will build on earlier work in which ways of representing and measuring complexity were developed. The project will involve both companies who have previous experience of using the existing tools and others that do not.
