Summary on Grant Application Form |
The development of the ISIS spallation neutron source and the associated instruments has opened up many possibilities for inelastic single crystal neutron scattering experiments. The existing furnaces available at the ISIS facility have severe limitations regarding single crystal experiments. We propose to construct a new furnace optimised for single crystal measurements. The new furnace will allow in situ sample rotation, wide angle neutron transmission and a maximum temperature of ?1000 C and will generally be available.
