Summary on Grant Application Form |
It is known that the viscosity of a wide range of liquids is a strong function of pressure. Little, if anything, is known of the effect of pressure on other rheometrical properties such as normal stress differences and extensional viscosity. High pressures exist in many industrial processes (e.g. in polymer processing and lubrication) and there is an evident need to study how the viscoelastic properties of industrial fluids vary with pressure. The proposed project will address this need by suitably modifying existing rheometers and proposing new ones.
