Summary on Grant Application Form |
Using an idealised mixed mode crack growth testing geometry, fundamental contributions to Stage I crack growth as a function of loading conditions and basic microstructural parameters will be quantified for a model Al-Li alloy. The relationship between crack path geometry and crack shielding will also be quantified and incorporated into a generic model for intrinsic and extrinsic contributions to Stage I fatigue.
