Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this research is to investigate a novel computational method called statistical parallelism, developed by the applicant, which allows certain problems to be computed in less time than on standard parallel processors or with greater accuracy than when heuristic methods are used. The computation time is gained at the expense of occasional operational failures, so that in practical terms the user obtains a optimal result, quickly, most of the time. The work aims to examine the properties of the method and to demonstrate its viability through a number of AI search problems.
