Summary on Grant Application Form |
Novel and innovative thick film coating and processing technologies will be investigated and developed to improve the microstructure, properties and performance of functional ceramic materials and devices. Exemplification will focus on, but not be restricted to, piezoelectric materials. Powders and inks suitable for thick films will be developed, manufactured and characterised. Single and multi-layer thick film PZT films (plus electrodes) will be manufactured and control of densification will be established. The microstructural, compositional and interfacial dependence of properties will be elucidated. A demonstrator thick film device will be constructed to demonstrate the success and future potential of the technology.
