Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of the project is to develop tools and techniques for the effective exploitation of the emerging low-cost, highly scalable, parallel systems for On-Line Transaction Processing. Parallel and distributed systems are now providing alternatives to mainframes, and at Southampton, we have a unique combination of expertise and equipment to enable us to pursue original work. Using the SP2 parallel processing system, the project will create a test bed for the development of algorithms and prototype code that will enable use of these technologies to benefit industrial and other users in the UK in the 2 to 3 year timeframe.
