Summary on Grant Application Form |
Accidents that occur in the process industries can be very costly. This project aims to take deliberate steps to draw designers' and operators' attention to what they do not know, or have forgotten, or may otherwise fail to recognise as important. The approach is to integrate past incident data and expert rules into process plant design tools and control systems. An integrated hazards identification system will facilitate safer plant design and operation by making important and relevant information easily accessible and by proactively checking of hazardous scenarios. Prototype systems will be devloped to demonstrate the effectiveness of the idea.
