Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research is a collaboration between Melbourne University and Keele to study the interactive forces between ceramic particles in a concentrated dispersion using AFM. The novel experiment is to image wet suspensions to measure the particles and also to obtain surface force information. Preliminary experiments show that this is possible. The proposal is for a PDRA to solve the problems of specimen preparation, probe definition and wet cell development. The results will be used to test the theory of particle clustering in high concentration dispersions, NATURE 339 (1989) 130-2.
