Summary on Grant Application Form |
State of the art experimental studies of a wide range of atomic collision processes of basic, astrophysical and technological importance will be pursued. The programme comprises studies in the following areas:1. State selective electron capture and excitation processes in collisions of multiply charged state selected ions with atoms and molecules.2. Crossed beam coincidence studies of electron capture and multiple ionisation in ion collisions with atoms and clusters.3. Two-centre effects in double differential scattering of electrons formed in collisions of ions with H and other atoms.4. Near threshold total and differential scattering of electrons from positive ions.5. Coincidence studies of electron transfer and emission during ion-surface interactions.6. The dynamics of molecular dissociation induced by ion impact.7 The development of instrumentation and techniques; ion and atom beam production and data handling.
