Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project seeks to provide computational algorithms to maximise the structural information obtained by scanning probe microscopy (SPM). Novel techniques will be developed which will permit the elucidation of surface properties, such as friction and hardness through the analysis of tip geometry data derived from the image topography. Routines will be established which will use this information on image degradation to form reconstructed topographies true to the sample. These methods will permit true surface measurements to be made. These systems will be made available to the SPM community by the development of a worldwide web server.
