|
On the subjective impression and performance effectiveness of task lighting within non-uniformly lit offices, no tests of visually impaired subjects have been carried out. Recent work has identified an urgent need for research into this topic.This project will measure the performance of the partially sighted when carrying out office tasks within a simulated office at the Building Research Establishment and real office environments, including subjective measurement. The results will provide lighting design guidance to those involved in the formulation of recommendations for engineers and architects.Commercial companies may be responsive to the provision of adequate lighting to the visually impaired if it can be provided, easily and economically, on a local task lighting basis.
