Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research concentrates on providing a systems engineering and simulation based dynamic Decision Support System (DSS) as part of a re-engineering methodology aimed at producing future best practice. The intention is that the re-engineering methodology, once tested on Lucas based supply chains, will be available for exploitation by the wider UK based automotive industry in the design, monitoring and enhancement of holistic supply chains especially in response to EU market opportunities. The DSS will aid in the identification and prioritisation of improvements (whether technologically, organisationally or attitudinally based) to be implemented according to the business objectives of all the players in the chain. The goal is to achieve flexible, rapid but stable response of the supply chain to the competitive advantage of all players in the chain.
