Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this project is to develop a robust software simulator of the spectral, noise and dynamical properties of commercial laser diodes subject to single and multiple reflections. The simulator will be designed to run within a workstation environment as a part of a manufacturing test line. Its use would be, first of all, as a design tool during the laser and system development phase. Secondly, the simulator would be used as part of a final test screen to evaluate the laser performance for the system by comparing simulator predictions to device test performance. Two principal applications of the simulator are identified for the performance prediction of (i) Packaged laser diodes and (ii) Laser diodes in hybrid optical integrated configurations.
