Summary on Grant Application Form
The coaxial cone spectrometer design evaluated theoretically and experimentally using EPSRC grant GR/J23457 will be used to construct a working spectrometer equipped now with a field emission electron gun, a sample manipulator, microchannel plates and Ar+ cleaning facilities. It will be used then to seek an industrial partner for commercial exploitation. The spectrometer will be used to investigate damage mechanisms in oxides, multi-component surfaces of high temperature superconductors and easily damaged surfaces of polymers.
