Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed research comprises four main tasks:- to investigate the effect of soluble polymeric additives on the bulk properties of ceramic dispersions (rheology, aggregation, etc)- To develop methods to detect and measure microstructural defects in ceramic green bodies, and to apply such methods in line to aid process control, optimization and increase yeild.- To model ceramic forming processes especially the interaction between the physical characteristics of the feedstock and the characteristics of the process equipment.- To define the likely impact on profitability/competitiveness of new process techniques in the ceramic industry and to assist in the business processes involved in technology transfer.
