The investigation will experimentally determine the room enclosure environment for selected fire scenarios. Field modelling techniques will be used to map and simulate the measured surface temperatures and heat fluxes to establish detailed thermal boundary conditions for the performance evaluation of glazing systems. The detailed boundary conditions simulated will be used as input for a finite element analysis of the behaviours of glazing systems exposed to real fire conditions to predict the time to cracking, patternation of cracking, loss of integrity and catastrophic failure.The results obtained from the simulation will be compared against experimental results and a strategy developed to predict the behaviours of glazing systems under real fire conditions. In addition, data on the levels of fire induced noises and radiation transmitted through glazing will be measured and formatted for the purposes of stochastic modelling.
