Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal intends to explore the potential of microfabricated sensors for application in chemistry. The sensor uses a combination of differential thermal expansivities and sub-Anstrom deflection measurement methods to detect temperature changes of less than 1uk, surface strains of less than 10-5 and absorbed optical powers of less than 1nW at the sensor surface. These various sensitivities will be utilised to detect the presence of stress in electrochemically deposited films in situ, heat evolution during chemical reaction and otpical absorption in monolayer films.
