Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed programme will develop novel and general routes to cyclic fluoroketones using ring expansion reactions. Exocyclic difluoroenol ethers will be synthesised using known procedures and the efficiency of [3, 3]-claisen rearrangement will be determined. Metallated difluoroenol carbamate chemistry will be used to synthesise a range of compounds capable of undergoing oxy-Cope rearrangement systems will be determined by varying the correlating the efficiency of rearrangement with the polar character of the 1, 5-dien-3-ol and. A wide range of cyclic difluoroketones will be generated in this way.
