Summary on Grant Application Form
The oxidation of selected sulfides and selenides using potassium persulfate in the presence of various albumins or other proteins (eg globulins) will be explored. The employment of one sulfoxide for the preparation of tetrahydrolipstatin will be investigated. The optimum reaction conditions will be applied to the oxidation of a selection of ketones and electron rich alkenes. The employment of home-made polypeptides (eg, poly-(L)-leucine) under the same reaction conditions will also be investigated. The sterocontrolled oxidative rearrangement of selenides will be studied.
