Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed research would address the problem of checking the state of health of different types of switchgear using a minimum number of optical fibre sensors and extracting the maximum amount of information from these sensors using novel data compression techniques based upon chromatic processing (UK Measurement Foresight optical/optoelectronic panel). The possibility of extrapolating the chromatically processed results in combination with non-deterministic methods would be explored for predicting time to failure and lifetime extension of the switchgear.
