The proposed programme will assess the design parameters for piezoelectric motors, build a macroscopic motor and determine the effects of changing materials, design and drive electronics. It will study the use of methods such as LIGA for fabricating micromotors with piezoelectric drive and build/assess a micromotor. It will assess the potential of the motors for use in nanotechnological and bioengineering applications.
