Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of the proposed research is to further explore the chemistry of metal bis-boryl complexes, of the form lnM(BR2)2, which are available from the oxidative addition of the B-B bond in diborane (4) compounds to low valent transition metal centres. These bis-boryls have been shown to be active catalysts for alkene and alkyne diboration reactions, but preliminary investigations have also shown that stigma-bond metathesis reactions can occur between a metal boryl and a diborane (4) compound which affords the possibility of making boron containing polymers if cyclic diborane (4) compounds are employed.
