Summary on Grant Application Form |
The project is concerned with the development of models of hybrid IGBT-Thyristor devices for use in circuit simulators, in order to assess the benefits accruing to such devices in specific applications. Of particular interest are the gate drive requirements and circuits for high power applications. The initial objective will be model development and verification against sample devices and finite difference device models. The next objective is the development of circuit designs for various applications. The final task will be quantifying the overall advantages of the novel devices when compared to using IGBTs.
