Summary on Grant Application Form |
The overall objective of the research programme is to specify, design and demonstrate an adaptive planning and assembly support system which will present the information more effectively and provide vital management information on planning and assembly process performance. The target for research is the small batch high-technology product sector. The common and variable requirements of the assembly planning and information delivery system across a range of sector will be researched and defined. Formal methodologies will be created for the definition of the optimum information required by assembly operators of complex products, profiling operator skills and task requirements. An investigation of high level planning generation language will be undertaken. This will be linked to a demonstration delivery system with information being adapted to the needs of the individual operator.
