Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Centre for Process Systems Engineering was founded in August 1989. It has as its mission: To pursue research into an integrated approach to the development of computer-based techniques for design, operation, control and mangement in the process industries .To this end, an interdisciplinary research programme involving the theory and application of process and control engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics and operations research is being carried out at the Centre. The techniques developed are designed to be generic. Applications to a wide spectrum of the process industries are envisaged, with a special emphasis on the food and biotechnology industries in addition to more traditional process sectors. Here a programme for the Centre for the period 1 August 1995 to 31 July 1999 is proposed. The significant features are a fundamental research programme of 70 projects (more than one third of which are new), a suite of four major technology transfer projects, a Process Concept Studio for fast-track, leading-edge applications project in collaboration with industry, and a coherent strategy for technology transfer and exploitation of the Centre's research results.
