Summary on Grant Application Form
There are a number of research areas currently on going at Nottingham University and potential research projects which would be greatly enhanced by the availablity of equipment to measure the surface area and pore-size distributions for a variety of solid materials using a number of adorbates. Currently, equipment of this type is not available within the University and this has been restricted the information available for investigation or, where the data is essential has required the use of equipment at other Institutions, which is costly both in terms of time and expense. It is also restrictive when future projects are being considered. The aim of this project is to purchse, install and commission equipment for the ana;yiss of suface area and pore size distribution for use in current and future projects in the areas of: membrance processes; catalyst systems and supports; solid-gas reactions; coal benefaction processes.
