Summary on Grant Application Form
This collaborative research between the University of Surrey and British Airports Authority (Heathrow Express) will place extensive data on the performance of two 240m-long, 10m-diameter sprayed concrete lining (SCL) tunnels in the public domain. The data collected during the construction will be used to evaluate the principal commercially-available finite element analysis programmes most widely used in design consultancies, in order to provide objective guidance for industry for use in future SCL tunnel designs.
