Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed work will characterise the welds to be made on typical automotive components and, using weld parameter data collected in production, develop computer models indicative of weld quality. After verification, the models will be used to provide adaptive control signals to maintain optimised weld quality. The project will initially use components made from conventional steels and, if successful, will seek to apply similar techniques to higher strength materials.
