Summary on Grant Application Form |
One of the key challenges for all multimedia network service providers is efficient and effective image distribution across networks with varying transmission capacity and transmission quality, to terminals with variable resolution and size. It rapidly becomes apparent that image source coding and transmission coding must be variable to suit the type of image, the transmission medium, and the viewing platform. To understand and overcome the many variables that this service presents, requires expertise in image compression, data transmission - particularly in the wireless arena, and human factors, in order to best optimise image to application, image to terminal display, and image to user expectation and need.
