Summary on Grant Application Form |
Metal imido complexes (containing the M=NR functional group) are technologically important in organic synthesis and catalysts. Group 4 imido complexes in particular have enormous potential in these areas. We have developed new ways and ideas for controlling the M-NR (M - Group 4 metal) functional group environment so as to control the M=NR reactivity. We have also found that some of our Group 4 imido complexes are olefin polymerisation catalysts. We now wish to build on our preliminary studies. The fundamental aim of our proposal is, through basic research, to establish design principles for Group 4 imido complexes that have real end user applications in synthesis and catalysis.
