Summary on Grant Application Form |
This research proposal is an integral part of a joint proposal with teams at Heriot Watt University and the University of Essex. The overall proposal is concerned with the provision of a Core Simulator Engine which will allow integration and simultaneous operation of both real and simulate subsystems on an unmanned underwater vehicle. The objective of this thread of the joint proposal is to develop a spine architecture which will allow sub-systems to be integrated into the system in a seamless manner and which will also support an evolutionary development methodology by allowing new sub-systems to be readily incorporated and others to be removed without significant system disruption. The methodology will be evaluated and performance measures carried out in conjunction with other members of the CSE group so that at the end of the programme, recommendations can be made for the implementation of a real vehicle architecture under any TUUV3 follow up programme. Collaborative work will also be carried out with other members of the CSE group to demonstrate real and simulated sub-systems operating together in the laboratory.
