Summary on Grant Application Form
The main aim of this project is to develop new clean methodology for crystallization of expansive organic materials, particularly, inhalation pharmaceuticals. This purpose will be achieved by using two prinicple techniques: recrystallization from supercritical fluids (SCF) and high-pressure crystallization. Novel in situ analytical methods, based on ultra-fast interferometry, will be developedto study the phase diagrams, particle formation and fluid hydodynamics. This programme will enable us to create a fundamental apporach to such phenomena and to apply this methodology to a variety of drugs. This work will be performed in a close industrial collaboration with Astra Charnwood (Loughborough).
