Summary on Grant Application Form |
Recent technological developments make it possible to make simultaneous pressure measurements in wind tunnel models for a large number of channels at high frequencies. The proposal is to purchase and commission a state of the art pressure measurement system to enable a wide range of research projects to be carried out to investigate dynamic pressures on buildings, vehicles and other structures. These include:1. Wind tunnel measurements around low rise buildings and temporary structures.2. Prediction of fluctuation stresses and strains within building frames.3. Comparison of structural surface pressures and off surface flow fields.4. Unsteady aerodynamic forces on ground vehicles.5. Determination of unsteady pressure fields for ventilation studies.6. Determination of fluctuating fatigue loads on building components.
