Summary on Grant Application Form |
The equipment requested will be employed in the following five main research areas1) An investigation of the molecular structure of (a) transition metal derivatives of fullerenes and (b) dithiocarbamate complexes, by mass spectrometry.2) Mass spectrometric characterisation of macrocyclic, oligomeric, metallomesogenic and discotic liquid crystals materials.3) Structural characterisation of polysaccharide antigens from bacterial pathogens in relation to epidemiological typing and surface chemistry.4) Headspace analysis of compounds derived from animal health products employing MS/MS identification.5) The detection and identification of microbial lipids by mass spectrometry. All five projects require the use of mass spectrometry with HPLC interfacing, ESI or APCI soft ionisation, and MS/MS capability.
