Summary on Grant Application Form |
The chemistry of C60 and C70 and higher fullerenes (eg C76) will be investigated, in particular:1. Using the cages as electrophiles and the cage anions/radical anions as nucleophiles.2. Nucleophilic substitutions of addended cages.3. Cycloadditions to the cages.4. Cage reductions.Mechanistic aspects of these reactions will be explored in order to further our understanding of the reactivity and fundamental properties of these all-carbon cages.
