Summary on Grant Application Form
The project addresses the development of a methodology and an associated set of software tools for the modelling and analysis of timing specifications of hardware platforms for real-time embedded systems. This methodology will provide the designer of such a system with methods to assess and validate temporal parameters of hardware on the basis of its formal behavioural model. The approach is aimed at achieving greater efficiency and higher accuracy of modelling, compared to existing techniques. One of the most important practical problems to be solved is the Worst Case Execution Time (WCET) analysis. The WCET analysis is approached not only in the context of code optimisation, but also as a way to provide data for making decisions about hardware reconfiguration. The latter is an important issue in developing systems with customised hardware components and co-synthesis of hardware and synthesis.
