Summary on Grant Application Form |
Our time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) equipment was originally set up in the autumn of 1992 with an SERC grant under the LDSD Programme (GR/G38894) Time Resolved Luminescence for Low Dimensional Devices , value 165K. The equipment is an integral part of the Cardiff optoelectronics research facilities and includes photon counting electronics, photomultipliers and an Argon ion laser. This proposal arises from the recent failure of the Argon Ion Laser, and the subsequent need to replace the tube and five printed circuit boards. The Argon Ion Laser is crucial to various research programmes and funds were not awarded in any EPSRC grants for an extended warranty or insurance. With this in mind, we seek funding for the repair of this laser, an important item which sees widespread use in our EPSRC-supported workA quotation for a Special Package from Coherent is enclosed at a total cost of 18,400 representing a saving of over 4,800 over the initial full quotation.
