Summary on Grant Application Form |
Traditionally, the data processed by a synthesised digital design is fixed (occasionally variable) with integer, and the functional units available are concomitantly simple (adders, subtractors, multipliers, multiplexers etc.) The aim of this project is to provide a library of high-level floating point functions (trigonometric, transcendental, complex) to enable MOODS to synthesise behavioural designs incorporating complicated floating point manipulations. The library (which may itself be hierarchical) will contain a number of highly-tuned, fast discrete approximations to the required functions.
