The project will analyse and implement parallel methods for partial differential equations in three dimensional regions using additive Schwarz methods on unstructured grids. The analysis will concern the theory of these methods for mixed discretisations of problems with discontinuous coefficients. The implementation will be in FORTRAN/MPI, will be released in the public domain and should be suitable for any machine running MPI. Applications to model problems in semiconductor modelling, pollution modelling and geoelectrics will be computed as part of the evaluation of the code.
