Summary on Grant Application Form |
Within the context of engineering design our proposed research has a single focus and two closely interlinked aims. The focus is upon response Surface Models and the exciting potential they offer for both inexpensive simulation and the analysis of manufacturing design processes, leading to the powerful application of design, optimisation and visualisation techniques. Of the tow heavily interlinked aims, one is to place the power of statistical modelling techniques firmly in the hands of the engineering designer. The second is to extend the range and power of visulisation techniques firmly in the hands of the engineering designer. The second is to extend the range and power of visulisation techniques to facilitate not only modeling but realistic design. The anticipated overall outcome of the proposed research is the enhancement of industrial design and manufacture through the use of generic modelling and design tools.
