Summary on Grant Application Form
A through study of single file diffusion in zeolites will be carried out. Comparison with corresponding 3D networks and networks with dead-end pores and interconnecting channels of dimensions different from those of the main channels will be determined. Catalystic studies with these zeolites will be carried out and product distributions determined. The effect of surface resistance and coking will be studied. P-xylene diffusion in the hysteresis loop region of p-xylene/silicalite-1 will be measured. Acid and redox sites will be characterised using the FR method and various probe molecules at catalytic temperatures. Molecular dynamic simulations will be used to obtain a better understanding of the processes involved.
