Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal addresses the need to perform highly compute-intensive calculations in order to simulate complex non-Newtonian flows of industrial scale. Computational methods are well established in industry as important design tools, and vaste new avenues of parallel processing are availvable to a wide range of modern inudstry using networks of processors with PVM as the communication protocol.A comparative analysis of parallelisation paradigms will be used to produce the most efficient implementations of target codes over a distributed environment. Finite and spectral element codes will be developed for industrial rheological demonstrator problem areas - settling and coating flows - will be used as demonstrator projects.
