|
A 'fill & flow' channel biosensor if proposed, which will show all the positive features of easy use and disposability, intended of the classical Clark-style format, but not requiring the same stringent thickness precision in producing the reagent/interference layers. The approach will be to use theoretical modelling to identify behaviour and immobilised reagent layers. It is intended to investigate the channel biosensor in the context of a collaborative lactate monitoring programme using lactate oxidase/peroxide measuring amperometric system, since this will provide and excellent 'test analyte' in 'real' samples (human, equine), so that interference elimination zones can also be incorporated into the channel and tested. A radically different but simple approach to the removal of electroactive interferents will be explored using scaveger electrode, this being compared in both classical and channel formats, The final design objective for the channel biosensor is to consider the options of serial or parallel arrays to achieve multianalyte devices and to assess the generic potential of a channel flow biosensor.
