Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposed research develops the work of the research project The specification of a BPR methodology for Small and Medium sized manufacturing Enterprises (SMEs). This second phase of the overall project will develop the specification of the methodology into a complete BPR methodology for use by SMEs. This research will focus on how the tools and techniques and key messages already identified may be transferred to the target audiences. We recognize that SMEs need to find their way through a BPR programme and we suggest they apply a five stage methodology as a project management plan. However we have shown in tow previous grants that BPR best practice cannot e achieved using the set of methodological stages alone but also requires the systemic consideration of a set of metal level issues. These issues include Scope of Change, Strategy, Performance Measures, Information Technology, Human Factors and Business Process Architecture. These were derived from a series of interviews in forty organizations carrying out BPR projects. We will develop a case study for each of the five stages of the methodology and provide SMEs with a workbook which they can work through ad apply.
