|
The concept of 'wearable computers' can be supported by current technology and raises a number of human factors issues. The style of interaction which will be required when using wearable computers will differ from traditional human-computer interaction (HCI) dialogue styles. The project will investigate dialogue requirements for HCI with wearable computers and produce guidelines for dialogue design. The research will involve design and development of simple prototype devices which will be evaluated and tested in experiments and user trials. The prototypes will be developed for the domain of emergency services (i.e. police, fire, ambulance). The project will therefore involve a variety of requirements engineering practices, drawing on the experience and work of people in the emergency service domain. The aim of the research is to gain insight into the way in which wearable computers can offer perceptible benefits to current work and to develop human factors guidelines for design of future products. The guidelines will be developed in association with three organisation involved in computer hardware development.
