Summary on Grant Application Form
Low temperature crystallographic studies will be undertaken that will have an immediate and significant impact on a number of diverse areas, 1) unusual heteroboranes and determination of the mechanism(s) of polyhedral isomerisation, 2) carbaborane-based polymers with potential NLO-properties, 3) multidenate metal complexes showing structure/reactivity relationships, 4) metal-containing and functionalised polymers, again with applications in optical technology, 5) transition metal thiolate and selenoate complexes, and heteronuclear metal-metal bonded species, 6) structural correlation studies of heteroboranes, heterobimetallic compounds and macrocyclic complexes, 7) cyclic peroxides with potential biological activity, 8) the synthetic chemistry of macrolides, 9) polycyclic peptide chemistry, 10) the chemical ecology of the seaweed surface, 11) biomimetric electrocatalytic models of nitric oxide synthase and 12) intermolecular rearrangements of condensed triazolium betaines.
